From listening to Penelope Isles' debut album on repeat for the past few weeks, I had the expectation of their Sunday night gig in Falmouth to be a relaxed, stripped-back night of chilled music to end the weekend. For anyone who has been to a Penelope Isle's gig, they know that this is certainly not the case. The Brighton alt-rock/indie outfit's live performances are far from a reflection of their debut album 'Comfortably Swell', with their sound being far more vicious and energetic in the flesh.
We went for a stroll down the pier with the band to talk about what they've been up to on their tour, their plans for the future and what DIY labels mean for them. Explaining they've mainly played house parties previously in Falmouth the band seem rather excited to be playing Mono this time round, especially as they were joined by their friends Good Guy Clarence and Milo Gore.
