When speaking to local artists in Falmouth, it becomes clear just how much effort goes into their projects; this was certainly evident when speaking to Charlotte Lloyd-Butler on the afternoon of her EP release date. Having put on numerous gigs in the past month both throughout Falmouth as well as a show in Plymouth, the EP's launch at the start of December feels long awaited by friends, fans and Charlotte herself. Despite this anticipation, the sad news of the EP's delay in release seems to have not shaken anyone, with an excellent single 'In the Morning' out already and tickets sold out to the launch, support remained in full force.    Explaining the launch to be the first gig held at Falmouth Theatre Company, Charlotte expressed her excitement at getting to make the place her own with plans of an abundance of fairy lights and friends supporting there. The night itself was a superbly intimate evening, set up in a jazz cafe-esque manner in front of a grand stage; vastly different from your typical Falmouth bar. With J Scarle opening up the event with his graceful folk sound reminiscent of Ben Howard, followed by the wonderfully melancholic Idle Eyes, the stage was set for Charlotte and her band who proceeded to enchant the audience for the following hour playing songs from the new EP and some old favourites.    For those that don't know her music, starting off solo when coming to Falmouth Charlotte's acoustic songs held their own, being intimately crafted and deeply personal reflections. This being said, since the development of a full band the songs have completely new character, with a grand soundscape to accompany the delicate lyrics. As Charlotte explains in the interview, the band have provided a huge range of creative opportunities for her with each being excellent musicians, allowing for minor ideas to become the accomplished songs seen on the EP.

Be sure to check out her music and the new EP if you're a fan of Lucy Rose, Daughter and Billie Marten!
