Sitting down with FARE just hours after the release of her debut EP 'Overgrown', there is an clear sense of excitement in having her year-long project come to completion. Having put enormous effort into the release of the EP, with beautiful handmade cassette tapes and personalised notes with every copy, everything about FARE's release has a personal touch; one that also comes across in her songs.

With the EP being so reflective of this personal side to her, FARE expresses some inevitable nerves, explaining "people are going to own my music now...its not just me anymore". Letting this greatly intimate depiction of herself out into the world, whilst very scary, certainly comes across as a celebration for FARE. This is shown not only in her eagerness for the launch that evening but also in songs throughout the EP such as the heartfelt 'I am now', in which she describes: "its liberating me".

Despite the indulgence in melancholy FARE describes her EP to be, there is a vibrant sense of celebration evident at the launch event that evening. Having the stage wrapped in fairy lights and the excellent support of Billy Fraser and Lily Shickle, FARE set the tone for an intimate night filled with emotion. The suggestion of herself now being "full of colour" in her song 'Starver' becomes evermore apparent as she stepped up to the stage, proceeding to captivate the crowd into silence and prove that this was her day.

Have a listen to the full interview with FARE below, where we spoke about her influences, what it means to be releasing this personal project, and the ideas behind the making of 'Overgrown':
